Options trading doesn’t stop when you step away from your desk. The TradeStation mobile app is designed to help active traders access listed stock and index options, review key data, and execute trades all from a mobile device. Whether you’re monitoring positions or acting on breaking news, the app aims to keep your trading workflow within reach.

Navigating the Options Chain

Getting to options data is straightforward. Tap an options symbol to access the options chain and view real-time data at a glance.

  • Use the Buy and Sell buttons at the top to trade the underlying asset directly.
  • Review your current positions — for example, if you hold 100 shares of Intel, your holdings are visible in a clear snapshot.
  • Strike prices are displayed in the middle column, with real-time bid and ask prices updating for both calls and puts.
  • Swipe to access additional data columns, including implied volatility, open interest, and volume.
  • Tap the cogwheel to customize your view — enable or disable columns, or click and drag to rearrange them.
  • Expirations are displayed above the calls and puts, with the currently selected expiration highlighted in blue. Slide your finger to navigate to a different expiration date.

Executing an Options Trade

When you’re ready to act, the process is designed to be efficient.

  • Tap the bid to sell or the ask to buy.
  • The selected option appears at the bottom of the app, where you can choose to chart it or move to trade execution.
  • Tapping Trade generates an order ticket with the full options description.
  • Adjust order details at your own pace before reviewing and submitting.
  • Not ready to send? Swipe down to hide the order ticket and revisit it when you’re ready.

Trading Spreads from Your Mobile Device

For traders who work with spreads, the app offers flexible tools for both preset and custom configurations.

  • Open the Spread Selector dropdown to explore available spread types.
  • Select a spread type — such as Vertical — from the listed options, or use the Strike Interval dropdown to customize the strikes.

To build a spread manually:

  • Tap the Spread Selector dropdown and choose Custom.
  • In Custom mode, tap the bid or ask of each option leg to add it to your spread.
    • Tapping the bid adds a sell (short) option leg.
    • Tapping the ask adds a buy (long) option leg.
  • Trade direction can also be adjusted at the order ticket stage if needed.
  • Example: Building a Bull Call Vertical Spread

    1. Confirm Spread Selector is set to Custom.
    2. Select your desired expiration date.
    3. Tap the bid of the call you want to sell, and the ask of the call you want to buy.
    4. If you select an incorrect leg, tap the blue or red highlight to deselect and choose a different option.
    5. Each leg can be reviewed and adjusted by tapping its description at the bottom of the screen.
    6. When ready, tap Trade.
    7. On the order ticket, review your option legs, set your buying price (e.g., the mid-price), then review and send.

    Managing Orders and Positions

Once orders are submitted, monitoring and managing them is accessible from the TradeStation Home tab.

    • Navigate to the Order section to review order status.
    • To modify an order, tap the active order, select Actions, then choose Replace Order. Adjust pricing, select Replace Order at the bottom, and confirm through the prompts.
    • Use Positions in the Home tab to monitor your holdings.
    • Tapping an options position gives you the option to roll, add, or close the position. For closing transactions, you can switch the order type to market, then review and submit.

A Mobile Trading Companion for When It Counts

When sudden news or economic events require quick action, the TradeStation mobile app is designed to help you respond without being tethered to a desktop. From options chains and spread building to order management and position monitoring, the app aims to support a more complete mobile trading experience — built for those who are born to trade.

Options trading involves significant risk and is not appropriate for all investors. Using mobile trading tools does not eliminate risk or guarantee trading outcomes. Please consider your financial situation, risk tolerance, and trading objectives before trading options.
