Analyze the Markets Using Mobile Charts

Every experienced trader knows that a chart is central to monitoring price movements and making more informed trading decisions. The TradeStation mobile app is designed to help you stay connected to market dynamics — and potentially act on opportunities — wherever you are.
Accessing Charts on the Go
Getting to a chart in the TradeStation mobile app is straightforward. Tap any symbol from the tabs at the bottom of the screen — whether from your Watchlists, Trade view, Orders and Positions, or newly discovered symbols in the Markets tab — and you can chart it right away. From there, locate the Chart tab at the top of the screen.
Once you’re in the symbol detail view, you’ll find quote data displayed above the chart, along with Bid and Ask buttons for quick limit order placement.
Navigating and Customizing Your Chart View
The mobile chart is built for flexibility. A few gestures and taps can help you get the view you need:
- Tap the maximize button for a larger chart view
- Use pinch and zoom gestures to zoom in on specific price areas
- Slide your finger horizontally to navigate across different trading periods
The time frame defaults to your last selection, but you can easily adjust it using the options displayed below the chart. Tap the clock icon to access additional time frame options, including the ability to add custom time frames or rearrange their order.
Chart Settings and Appearance
Tapping the cogwheel icon opens a range of customization features, including:
- Adjusting the chart type
- Enabling or disabling pre- and post-market activity
- Changing the app theme
- Selecting your trading account
Adding Technical Studies
Technical analysis tools are accessible directly within the chart. Select Add Studies to browse available indicators:
- Upper studies overlay directly on the candlestick chart
- Lower studies appear on a separate subgraph below the main chart
For example, you can add a Two-Line Moving Average, then tap its name tag to adjust calculation parameters and appearance to suit your analysis.
Drawing Tools
Access drawing tools through the Drawing Tool toolbar button. Available tools include:
- Horizontal lines
- Trend lines
- Fibonacci tools, and more
To draw a Fibonacci retracement, for instance, simply drag from a high to a low on the chart. When you’re done, tap the drawing toolbar button again to exit drawing mode.
Placing a Trade from the Chart
When you’re ready to act, the mobile chart offers a couple of convenient paths to order entry:
- Tap the Trade button below the chart
- Tap directly on the chart background at a specific price level
Either action takes you to an order ticket where you can customize your order before submitting. To cancel a trade placement, simply slide your finger down on the order ticket.
