Disclosure: This post is for educational purposes only and is not tax, legal, or investment-planning advice.

Tax season can be stressful, especially if you’re an active trader with a high volume of equities trades to report. This article walks through how to download your TradeStation trading activity so you can organize the information you may need for tax preparation, share it with a tax professional, or use it with tax software.

Before You Download

Downloading your trading activity helps you gather detailed records of your trades for the tax year and keep everything in one place for tax prep.

Have the following ready:

  • Your TradeStation username and password.
  • The date range or tax year you want to download (for example, last calendar year).

Need a central place to find what you need? You can also start from HUB and navigate to Client Center features like the Tax Center to find and download what you need.

Step 1: Sign in to Client Center

Start by signing in to TradeStation’s Client Center from the main website.

  1. Go to www.tradestation.com and click Login at the top of the page.
  2. On the login screen, select Client Center.
  3. Enter your TradeStation username and password and complete any security verification if prompted.

Once logged in, you will see navigation options to access your accounts and related documents.

Step 2: Open the Tax Center for equities

Next, navigate to the Tax Center where you can download your equities trading activity.

  1. At the top of the page, click Accounts.
  2. In the left navigation menu, select Equities Accounts.
  3. Click Tax Center.

In the Tax Center, you will see tools for viewing and downloading your trading activity and tax-related information.

Step 3: Choose account and file format

Now choose the specific account and file format you want to download. TradeStation allows you to download your trading history in different formats to better assist you with your taxes.

  • Use the Account drop-down to select from your available TradeStation equities accounts.
  • Use the File format drop-down to pick the format you prefer (for example, CSV or another tax-compatible format if available).
  • Click the question mark icon next to the file format drop-down for additional information about each format and how it is used.

Selecting a format that works well with your tax software or tax professional can make your workflow more efficient.

Step 4: Set your date range and filters

Specify the time period and any filters you want to apply before downloading.

  1. From the Date range drop-down, choose an option such as a predefined period or Custom date range.
  2. If you select a custom date range, click the calendar button to the right of the From and To fields.
  3. Select the start date and end date of the trading activity you want to download.

Depending on your view, you may also see filters that allow you to:

  • Include or exclude certain trades, such as broken or canceled trades.
  • Choose which securities to include, such as equities, options, or all securities.

Setting the correct date range and filters helps ensure your downloaded file matches the activity you intend to review for tax purposes.

Step 5: Download and save your file

After you have selected your account, file format, date range, and any filters, you are ready to download.

  1. Click the Download button.
  2. When your browser prompts you, choose to open the file or save it to a folder on your computer.
  3. Save the file in a secure location and give it a clear, descriptive name, such as “2025_Equities_TradingActivity_AccountXXXX.csv.”

You can then provide this file to your tax professional or, if supported, use it with your preferred tax software according to that software’s instructions.

When you’re done, head back to HUB any time to access statements, account documents, transfers, and platform education. Everything you need, all in one place.
