This article will highlight some ways TradeStation can help customers before and after these reports.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Planning for Earnings<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Knowing the dates of results is key to planning. TradeStation makes this information easily available with RadarScreen\u2122 and charts.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"118\" height=\"128\" class=\"wp-image-41904\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.tradestation.com\/uploads\/sites\/2\/RS_logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Here are the steps on RadarScreen:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradestation.com\/insights\/2024\/05\/16\/radarscreen-introduction\/\">RadarScreen<\/a> can be launched by:\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Clicking on the Apps button at the top left of the work space or<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Right clicking on the desktop \u2192 New Application \u2192 RadarScreen.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>From RadarScreen click on the Studies menu \u2192 Add Study.\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>In the dialog that appears, select &#8220;Next Earnings Date RS&#8221;. Click the &#8220;Add -&gt;&#8221; button and then the OK button.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>This is included in the &#8220;Earnings Dates&#8221; tab of the included workspace. (See below.)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Here are the steps to add earnings dates to charts:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Launch Chart Analysis from the Apps button or by right-clicking on the work space<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Once it&#8217;s open, click on Studies \u2192 Add Study\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>In the dialog that appears, select &#8220;Next Earnings Date Studies &#8211; Next Earnings Date.&#8221;<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Click the OK button.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Researching Fundamentals<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>TradeStation can display fundamental data on companies in several ways. The attached workspace includes the prebuilt tab &#8220;Fundamentals&#8221; with common indicators like the Price \/ Earnings ratio and EPS Growth.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"105\" height=\"111\" class=\"wp-image-48240\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.tradestation.com\/uploads\/sites\/2\/TS_chart_analysis_logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Customers can access this resources by:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Downloading and extracting <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.tradestation.com\/uploads\/sites\/2\/Earnings-Tools-2024.zip\">this zip<\/a> file<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>With TradeStation running, click on the file &#8220;EARNINGS TOOLS 2024.ELD&#8221;. \r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Click the &#8220;Next &gt;&#8221; button on the first dialog box<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Several studies will appear.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Click &#8220;Finish&#8221; to import these into TradeStation.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Click on &#8220;Earnings Tools 2024.tsw&#8221;\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>This workspace relies on studies imported from the .ELD file above.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Its &#8220;Fundamentals&#8221; tab contains key indicators.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tools for After Earnings<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Some traders may want to avoid the volatility of earnings and enter positions after the news has passed. For example, stocks might rally on strong results and pull back in a week or two later.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>RadarScreen can help in those scenarios as well various types of alerts. Notice how prices pulled back to hold the 8-day exponential moving average after the last earnings report.<\/em><\/p><\/div>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Simple price alerts:<\/span> The &#8220;Last&#8221; indicator doesn&#8217;t simply show the most recent price for a security. It can also send alerts when prices cross specific levels.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Double clicking on a cell brings up the Customize Indicator dialog.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Select the Inputs tab and set &#8220;HiAlert&#8221; to a price above the current price. Set &#8220;LoAlert&#8221; to a price below the current level.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Select the Alerts tab to enable the alert. You can also specify how it should provide notification.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Note:<\/span> Triggered alerts are archived in the Message Center, which can be accessed at View \u2192 Messages \u2192 Message Center.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Dynamic price alerts:<\/span> In addition to simple price alerts, TradeStation has dynamic alerts that adjust as prices change over time. The included workspace features three examples:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Mov Avg 1 Line: The same indicator that plots simple moving averages on charts can also tell you when prices cross a moving average.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>EMA w Alert on Cross: This custom indicator can send alerts when prices cross an exponential moving average.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Keltner Channel: This indicator draws Keltner Channels on price charts, showing potential ranges of movement. It can also send alerts when prices cross the upper or lower bands.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Bollinger Bands: This popular indicator draws channels that widen or narrow based on volatility. RadarScreen can send alerts when prices cross above or below the upper and lower bands.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Dynamic alerts are also managed with the Inputs and Alerts tabs on the Customize Indicator dialog.
